Is your anxiety or depression getting worse?

Are you feeling anxiety or depression? Don’t feel alone because more than 90 million adults in the United States suffer from anxiety or depression, or both every year. One of the hardest parts when dealing with these conditions is how the symptoms can come and go. This process creates a downward spiral that can be dangerous. There is hope.

Many people might think their anxiety or depression will go away on its own. It doesn’t work this way. It’s important you understand when to get help and who can assist you in getting out of your “funk” state.

If you exhibit any of the following signs, you want to seek help right away before your depression gets worse and out of control.

Common depression signs and symptoms include:

You are feeling sad and want to be alone more often.

Things you were interested in now seem dull and not pleasurable.

You could be experiencing hopeless and pessimistic outlooks on life.

You feel more depressed at certain times of the day.

You are feeling sad, hopeless, shame, negative, and numb.

It is difficult to concentrate or have memory problems.

Common anxiety signs and symptoms include:

You are feeling nervous, restless, or tense.

You have a sense of impending danger, panic, or doom.

You have an increased heart rate.

You’re breathing rapidly (hyperventilation).

You have frequent sweating.

You have trembling.

You are feeling weak or tired.

You are having trouble concentrating or thinking about anything other than the present worry.

You have trouble sleeping.

You experience stomach problems.

You have difficulty controlling worry

You are having the urge to avoid things that trigger anxiety

If you are experiencing any of the above scenarios, don’t worry; they are only temporary moments until you get professional help to overcome your condition.

Often, depression can occur, and a person doesn’t feel depressed, and anxiety could be brushed off as a condition you just have to live with. Anxiety and depression are two conditions that respond very well to proper care from a licensed professional counselor.
